Forlinx Embedded, a gold partner of NXP, has officially announced the release of its FET-MX9596-C System on Module (SoM) and the carrier board. The FET-MX95xx-C SoM based on NXP i.MX 95 SoC with up to six Cortex-A55 cores, an Arm Cortex-M7 real-time core clocked at 800 MHz, an Arm Cortex-M33 safety core clocked at 333 MHz, and equipped with 8GB LPDDR4x and 64GB eMMC flash. The according carrier board, OK-MX95xx-C provides the feature-rich functionality with a wide range of interfaces such as dual GbE, a 10GbE SFP+ cage, terminal blocks with RS485 and CAN Bus interface, three USB Type-A ports, two PCIe slots, and more.
“This advanced module delivers powerful edge computing capabilities, combining rugged industrial-grade design with multifunctional performance for applications in industrial automation, intelligent medical systems, smart mobility, and advanced cockpit environments.” said Yuming(Shawn) C, CEO, Forlinx.
320-pin board-to-board connectors provide access to unavailable interfaces on the i.MX95 SoC, such as 10 GbE and two PCIe ports. Includes a built-in NPU up to 2 TOPS, supporting machine learning inference at the edge without additional accelerator cards.
Comparing with many industrial SoMs typically support 2D graphics or OpenGL ES 2.0., this module provides rich HMI/AR/VR interfaces with Mali-G30 GPU support, distortion correction and 3D rendering. With built-in ISP, 4K H.264/H.265 decode & encode make the module handle industrial vision, surveillance well.
Few SoMs in the same footprint provide 10GbE, but the module offers high-speed connectivity with dual 10Gbps + 1Gbps Ethernet, 2x PCIe Gen3, 5 CAN-FD, and rich UART/SPI/I²C with up to 8GB LPDDR4 RAM and 64GB eMMC storage, which opens up new possibilities for enhanced multitasking, faster data processing and quicker load times.
In addition to its powerful processing and connectivity, the FET-MX9596-C SoM incorporates a comprehensive security architecture to safeguard mission-critical applications. Built on NXP’s EdgeLock® Secure Enclave, the module enables secure device credential provisioning and lifecycle management. Its Cryptographic Acceleration and Assurance Module (CAAM), Resource Domain Controller (RDC), combining with Arm TrustZone® technology establish secure execution environments with multi-layered protection. These functionalities are safe for deployment in critical sectors such as smart transportation, healthcare devices, and industrial automation, where data protection and functional safety are mandatory.
Compact 50 × 68 mm design, –40 °C to +85 °C operating range, and rigorous EMC/environmental testing, backed by NXP’s 15-year longevity and Forlinx’s Linux BSP and customization support, all can help reduce integration risks and optimize for long-lifecycle markets.
Forlinx Embedded is committed to providing developers with comprehensive design documentation and customization services. For projects requiring higher volumes or specific form factors, Forlinx Embedded offers full technical services to design, manufacture, and maintain.
