Sweden’s Largest LoRaWAN Installation – 20,000 Sensors Driving Smart Energy Use

Akademiska Hus is currently running one of Sweden’s most ambitious IoT projects in university buildings. With 20,000 sensors already in operation, this is the country’s largest LoRaWAN installation, and the project is only halfway. Once fully deployed, there will be around 40,000 sensors, along with 8,000 consumption meters using M-Bus and several smart controllable ventilation units and air handling systems. In total, approximately 250,000 data points will be collected and analyzed in real time via the Sensor-Online API.

Together, these sensors provide a complete picture of occupancy and air quality, enabling precise control of ventilation, heating, and cooling – and shutting systems off where they are not needed.
