[Infographics]: Seven Industry 4.0 Applications Using Single Indoor Tracking System at VELUX Commercial

Houston, Texas, October 25, 2021 — Sewio, a UWB-based real-time location system (RTLS) vendor, today announced that VELUX Commercial, a Danish manufacturer of roof glazing solutions, leverages Sewio RTLS to boost the ergonomics, efficiency and safety at their manufacturing plant.

VELUX Commercial had been actively working on digital transformation of their production processes. This included the need to orchestrate data from multiple sources for which the ideal solution was to create a digital twin of the real-life factory integrating all the data and processing it into understandable, transparent and valuable information.

This integration leverages 7 different use cases with the use of a single RTLS, with unique use cases such as:

1. Automatic adjustment of the height of the workbench to fit the height of the person who is physically the closest to it.
2. Automated alert in case of missing worker with appropriate skillset at the workstation.
3. Indoor navigation for workers performing Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) tasks.
4. The virtual-reality training enriched with real-time traffic brought by RTLS.
5. Spaghetti diagrams and heatmaps to identify and remove process bottlenecks.
6. Parametric simulation model to fine tune the process updates.
7. Single source of truth of real-time and historical data for planning, monitoring, and optimizing the production process.

Several success metrics were directly linked to the implementation of this project, such as an increase in productivity through better shop-floor management by 10%, a decrease in the WIP thanks to improved communication channels by 10% or a performance boost on TPM activities by 50%.
